CHILDREN'S CORNER
As one way of protecting children from violence, abuse, exploitation, neglect and the impacts of HIV and AIDS, EHAP establishes and facilitates children’s Corner services in its catchment area. Children’s Corners are community-owned safe spaces for children aged 6 to 18 years which provide Psychosocial Support, life skills education and empowerment on children’s rights.
Facilitation of children's corner activities
Children Corners are community based centres where children between the ages of 6 years and 18 years meet after school hours. These centres operate in the community and are facilitated by volunteers at that level. Childrens coners create safe spaces for children by offering psychosocial support, life skills education, and empowerment on children's rights. Children's Corners are also a vital part of child protection, helping to identify and refer children in need of special care.
EHAP with support from the Stephen Lewis Foundation in the previous years established five children's corners in five areas of Thimalala, Chilida, Ngongo, Katula, and Luhomero.
Below are some of the photos of the project officers and Children's Corner volunteers facilitating activities in the Children's Corner.
